SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jingmen Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, is planning to delay the scheduled maintenance of its reformer plant at Jingmen in Hubei province, a company source said on Thursday.

The source said the delay was because of tight supply in the Chinese benzene market, and did not specify when the shutdown will take place.

The unit was originally scheduled for maintenance from mid-April as its output has not been up to standard since it was restarted in mid-December 2011, the source added.

The unit can produce 30,000 tonnes of benzene annually and its benzene output in 2011 was 11,000 tonnes, according to the source.
