HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based Dow AgroSciences will build an herbicide plant at its parent company's complex in Freeport, Texas, it said on Thursday.
The new plant in Freeport will allow Dow to produce 2, 4-D choline, a key component of the company's Colex-D technology, the company said. This, in turn, will be featured in Dow's Enlist Duo herbicide.
Freeport will join Dow's site in Midland, Michigan, in the production of the company's Enlist Weed Control System, Dow said.
In other news, Dow also announced that it would build its new cracker in Freeport. The cracker will cost $1.7bn (€1.3bn) and it will have a capacity of 1.5m tonnes/year.
