MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo Chemical plans to shut its methanol, acetic acid and ethyl acetate (etac) plants at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province around 6 May for 15-20 days of maintenance, a company official said on Friday.
The starting date of the scheduled overhaul has been postponed from 25 April because of a delay in the delivery of catalyst, said the official.
The company is currently running its 1.2m tonne/year acetic acid plant at about 60% of capacity as a result of a technical issue affecting its 500,000 tonne/year methanol plant.
Operations at the 500,000 tonne/year etac plant at the same site have not been affected, the official added.
The etac plant’s operating rate is unchanged at about 70% capacity, the official said.
