SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan VAM & POVAL Co Ltd plans to shut its 150,000 tonne/year vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) plant in Sakai, Osaka, in July for a month-long turnaround, a company official said on Friday.
“There will be minimal impact on the market as this is a planned maintenance shutdown,” he said.
The VAM plant is currently operating at around 80% of capacity, he added.
Other major VAM producers in the Asian market include US-based Celanese, China’s Sichuan Vinylon Works, Japan’s Showa Denko, South Korea’s Asia Acetyls Company (Asacco), Taiwan’s Dairen Chemical Corp and Saudi Arabia’s International Vinyl Acetate Company (IVC).
