SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Yeochun NCC (YNCC) on 20 April restarted its No 2 aromatics facility in Yeosu following a planned turnaround, a company source said.

The unit, which can produce 120,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 60,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 40,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene, was shut around 20 March this year, the source said.

YNCC expects to reach 100% production rate at the No 2 unit in a day or so, he added.

The company would also be in the position to offer more toluene in the merchant market from May, according to the source.

Some of the other key producers of benzene, toluene and solvent xylene in South Korea are GS Caltex and SK Global Chem (SKGC).
