Taiwan’s Taita Chemical to finish ABS unit expansion by end 2012

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Taita Chemical said on Friday it expects to complete the expansion at its acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) unit at Lin Yuan Industrial District in Kaohsiung at the end of 2012.

Taita Chemical’s ABS capacity will reach a total of 100,000 tonnes/year after the new unit brought on stream, a company source said.

The source did not provide further details of the expansion work.

Taita Chemical is running a 60,000 tonne/year ABS plant at the same site at 100% of capacity, according to the source.

Taita Chemical is a key polystyrene (PS) producer and its other products include expandable polystyrene (EPS) and glass wool.
