SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) intends to build two world-scale crackers for start-up in the next few years and the plans are in the process of being finalised, a source close to the company said on Friday.

One of the proposed crackers would be a naphtha-based facility built in Asia in conjunction with facilities for producing downstream derivatives such as polycarbonate (PC), the source said on the sidelines of the four-day Chinaplas 2012 exhibition in Shanghai, which closes on 21 April.

The second proposed cracker would be a gas-based facility in the US and the company is in talks with potential partners, he added.
