SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Daqing Refining & Chemicals shut its 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant on 20 April because of a technical issue, a company source said on Monday.

No restart date has been set for the plant, the source said, adding that the unit was producing biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films prior to its shutdown.

China’s PP market may not be affected much by the shutdown given current weak demand from downstream sectors, said a northeast China-based market player.
