HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s March chemical production was up by 11.8% year on year, compared with the same month of 2011, industry sources said on Monday.
Production of basic chemical products was down by 3.8% in March 2012, compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.
Production of industrial gases was up in March by 4.5% year on year, the group said.
Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was up by 0.1% in March compared with the same month of 2011.
Agrochemicals production was one of the highlights in March, up by 17.2% in March, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 19.9% year on year.
Production of detergents, soaps and personal products rose in March by 12.5% compared with the same month of 2011.
Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined was down by 2.3% in March year on year. Rubber tyre production increased by 4.7%, while March production of plastic products was down by 3.4% year on year, INDEC said.
