SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Advanced Biochemical Thailand, a wholly owned subsidiary of Thailand-listed Vinythai, shut its 100,000 tonne/year ECH plant on 22 April for two weeks of maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

“The shutdown has been planned in the beginning of the year and is in line with an expansion work at its upstream chlor-alkali unit,” the source said.

The chlor-alkali plant at the same site will be expanded by 90,000 tonnes/year to 350,000 tonnes/year capacity, he added.

Advanced Biochemical aims to ramp up the operating rate at its ECH unit to full capacity after the maintenance, he added.

The plant was running at low rate since its start-up in late February to ensure stable operation, the source said

Solvay owns a 58.77% stake in Vinythai.
