SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Tianjin Aojia Yongli Chemical is planning to restart its 100,000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) plant at Tianjin over the weekend after shutting it on 13 April, a company source said this Wednesday.

The company shut down the plant because of suspension of its feedstock 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) supply, according to the source.

The 2-EH supply for the company’s DOP plant was from its parent company Tianjin Bohai Chemical, which shut its 140,000 tonne/year 2-EH plant at Tianjin on the same day, the source said.

The restart date at the 2-EH plant has not been confirmed by the company, source from Tianjin Bohai said.

Tianjin Aojia Yongli’s DOP output will increase by 8,000 tonne/month after the start-up of the unit, according to the source.

The restart may cause DOP prices to drop slightly and market supply in north China to increase, a market player said.

The spot prices of DOP in north China were at yuan (CNY) 13,300-13,400/tonne ($2,108-2,124/tonne) EXW (ex-works) on 25 April, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
