HOUSTON (ICIS)--Honeywell has won another contract to provide its propane dehydrogenation (PDH) technology to produce on-purpose propylene at a project in China, the diversified US-based industrial and technology firm said on Thursday.

Honeywell said the project by Zhangjiagang Yangzi River Petrochemical in Jiangsu province will use its UOP C3 Oleflex catalytic PDH technology to produce 600,000 tonnes/year of propylene from propane after starting up in 2014.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Earlier this week, Honeywell said it had won a PDH technology deal for a project at Binzhou City in China’s Shandong province to produce propylene and isobutylene.

Zhangjiagang’s project is the ninth propylene project Honeywell has announced since the beginning of 2011.

Since the technology was commercialised in 1990, Honeywell's UOP petrochemicals business has commissioned nine C3 Oleflex units for on-purpose propylene production, with a 10th unit scheduled to start up this year in Russia, the company added.
