SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu SangFangXiang (SFX) is currently running its 1.2m tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in Jiangying at 70-80% of capacity because of technical issues, a company source said on Friday.

A 200,000 tonne/year PET bottle grade chip line at the plant is now shut and will only be restarted in May this year, the source said without elaborating on the specific date.

5 out of the company’s 6 production lines are operating normally at 100% of their nameplate capacity, the source added.

Sanfangxiang is currently China’s biggest PET bottle chips maker.

Other major PET bottle chip manufacturers in China include China Resources Packaging, Far Eastern Industry Shanghai and Zhuhai Yuhua.
