SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Lubei Chemical said on Friday it shut its 60,000 tonne/year chlor-alkali plant on Friday because of weak demand for the products.

Falling prices of chlor-alkali products also prompted the decision to halt production at the facility, the company said in a statement.

“We have to shut down the plant to avoid loss and the actual restart date could not be confirmed now. It should depend on the market trend,” a company source said.

Shandong Lubei Chemical’s chlor-alkali production line is located at Binzhou city in China’s Shandong province.
