SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Qing'an Chemical Industry plans to shut its 150,000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) plant at Jiaxing in the first half of May, a company source said on Friday.

“The DOP plant will be shut because its feedstock phthalic anhydride (PA) plant will be [undergoing] annual maintenance in the first half of May to change its catalytic agent,” the source said.

The company’s DOP plant is producing about 400 tonnes of DOP a day, according to the source.

The shutdown may cause DOP prices to go up slightly and market supply of DOP to decrease in east China , a market player said.
