LONDON (ICIS)--Perstorp has signed an agreement with Japan’s Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) to distribute polyesters and raw material in Europe, the Swedish-based specialty chemical producer said on Monday.

The agreement will enable the two companies to develop the market for MGC’s new co-polyesters in Europe, Perstorp said.

“We are very pleased to collaborate with MGC for developing the market of this next generation of amorphous highly transparent co-polyesters,” said David James, Perstorp’s market development manager.

“On longer term, thanks to our key integrated technologies in Europe, the ambition is to establish jointly the most competitive production platform in Europe for the raw material used in these copolyesters,” he added.

Takeshi Nakase, new business development manager at MGC, said that by utilising Perstorp’s strong marketing network and technical support, growth in its new co-polyester business development will accelerate.

“We strongly believe that we have a wealth of opportunities to find suitable and ground-breaking applications for safe and eco-friendly materials like our new co-polyesters in the European market." Nakase added.

Financial details about the agreement were not disclosed.
