HOUSTON (ICIS)--US first-quarter isobutanol production was 38.2m lb (17,000 tonnes), a 14% increase from 33.4m lb one year earlier, according to data available on Tuesday from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM).
Isobutanol output in the first quarter declined by 17% from 45.8m lb in the fourth quarter of 2011, the group said.
AFPM's quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
Isobutanol, produced from the carbonylation of propylene, is primarily used as a solvent.
