HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shell has shut down its OP3 Deer Park cracker in Texas, and was still investigating the cause of the outage, it said in a public filing available on Wednesday.

"The cause of the shutdown is unknown at this time," Shell said in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

A company spokesperson declined to comment on the length of the outage, citing competitive reasons.

Shell has 835,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity in Deer Park.
