MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo Chemical on 30 April shut its methanol, acetic acid and ethyl acetate (etac) plants at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province for a planned 20-day turnaround, a company official said on Thursday.
The company operates a 500,000 tonne/year methanol unit, a 1.2m tonne/year acetic acid plant as well as a 500,000 tonne/year etac facility at the site.
The company will not offer etac cargoes for May shipment as a result of the shutdown, the official said.
Etac prices in the well-supplied domestic Chinese market are stable at yuan (CNY) 6,600/tonne ($1,046/tonne) EXW (ex-works), unchanged from a week earlier.
Other etac producers in China include Jiangmen Handsome Chemical Development, Shanghai Wujing Chemical, Shandong Jinyimeng Group and Rizhao Jiahong Biological Technology.
