China’s Hengtong Chem achieves on-spec caustic soda at new unit

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China’s Hengtong Chemical has achieved on-spec production at its new 200,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year ion-exchange membrane caustic soda unit at Tancheng in Shandong province, a company source said on Thursday.
The source did not disclose the current operating rate of the plant, which achieved on-spec production on 25 April.
The start-up of the new plant has doubled the company’s ion-exchange membrane caustic soda capacity to 400,000 dmt/year at Tancheng, the company said.
Shandong-based Hengtong Chemical manufactures caustic soda, PVC, urea and methanol.By: Rachel Yang
