HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shaw has won a contract to provide technology and engineering services for a conversion furnace project at Eastman Chemical’s ethylene plant in Longview, Texas, the US-based petrochemicals engineering firm said on Thursday.

Shaw said that its Ultra Selective Conversion furnace technology would give US-headquartered Eastman “flexible solutions for their operational needs”.

It did not disclose financial or capacity details, and did not say when the project is expected to be completed.

Shaw added that it has the technologies to help US chemical producers expand or revamp plants to take advantage of shale gas – which has lowered feedstock costs in the US petrochemicals industry.

The company is also providing a process design package and front-end engineering design for a 1.5m tonne/year ethylene plant US-based Chevron Phillips Chemical is planning to build in Baytown, Texas, it said.
