Taiwan’s FPC runs Kaohsiung VCM plant at close to 100%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) is running its 780,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) facility in Kaohsiung at close to 100% of capacity, a company source said on Friday.

The company has been ramping up the run rate of the plant since it restarted a 240,000 tonne/year VCM line at the facility on 30 April this year following a turnaround, the source said.

The company’s current VCM production is solely for captive consumption of its downstream polyvinyl chloride (PVC) operations.

FPC operates an 800,000 tonne/year PVC facility in Kaohsiung.
