SINGAPORE (ICIS)--BASF-YPC, a key butadiene (BD) producer in ?xml:namespace>
The company shut the plant on 16 April and had initially planned to restart it on 4 May, according to the source.
“We are planning to achieve on-spec production at the plant on 6-7 May,” the source said.
The restart may increase BD supply to the domestic market in May, a market player said.
BASF-YPC sold BD at yuan (CNY) 21,500/tonne ($3,413/tonne) EXW (ex-works), down by CNY3,500/tonne from 16 April, according to Chemease, an ICIS service.
BD prices may continue in a downtrend because of weak demand from its downstream butadiene rubber (BR) and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) sectors.
($1 = CNY6.30)
