S Korea’s LG Chem runs Yeosu BPA plants at 90% capacity

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s LG Chem is keeping a 90% run rate at its Yeosu bisphenol A (BPA) plants indefinitely because of poor economics, a company source said on Friday.

Each of the company’s two BPA lines has a 150,000 tonne/year capacity.

Operating rates at these units were lowered to 90% on 20 April from 100% previously, the source said.

The company has not set a date when full production will be restored the BPA facilities, in view of prevailing weak market conditions, the source added.
