LONDON (ICIS)--An initial Europe paraxylene (PX) contract settlement for May was agreed at €1,210/tonne ($1,592/tonne), down €15/tonne from April, the seller involved said on Friday.

According to the seller, the lower Asian settlement this month meant that there was some downward pressure in Europe, but this was countered by relatively strong domestic fundamentals.

The settlement was agreed on a free delivered (FD) northwest Europe (NWE) basis.
