April ABS prices climb 4-8 cents/lb in North America

HOUSTON (ICIS)--North American prices for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) in April rose by 4-8 cents/lb, market sources said on Friday.
Producers sought increases ranging from 5-10 cents/lb ($110-220/tonne, €84-167/tonne), citing rising costs of feedstocks primarily, and some improvement in demand.
The price increases became effective mostly during the first half of April.
Prices for extrusion high impact ABS in bulk from 135-154 cents/lb to 139-162 cents/lb.
Buyers were initially reluctant to accept the increases, but realised most of them were for feedstock costs, and acknowledged prices did increase.
Producers have not sought an increase for May.
ABS producers in North America include INEOS ABS, Network Polymers, SABIC Performance Materials, Styrolution and Styron.
