HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based Georgia Gulf is set to put its phenol-acetone plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana into a planned turnaround for maintenance, sources said on Friday.
The plant is set to go down within the week and is estimated to be down for more than a week.
The company has 227,000 tonnes/year of phenol capacity and 140,000 tonnes/year of acetone capacity at the site, according to ICIS plants and projects.
Attempts to reach the company for comment were unsuccessful.
Two other US phenol-acetone producers, Dow Chemical and Shell Chemical, have plants down for maintenance as well.
Georgia Gulf has already begun a turnaround at its chlor-alkali plant, which is also at the Plaquemine site.
