Bangkok Synthetics declares force majeure on BD, other products

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s Bangkok Synthetics (BST) has declared a force majeure on its 140,000 tonne/year butadiene (BD) unit and four other units at Map Ta Phut, following a fire that broke out at the site on 5 May, a company source said on Tuesday.
The units will be shut for at least a month, the source said.

These include BST’s 55,000 tonne/year of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) unit, its 55,000 tonne/year of butane liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) unit, its 40,000 tonne/year of C4 raffinate (isobutylene) unit and its 35,000 tonne/year butene-1 unit.
