TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese trading firm Mitsubishi Corp on Tuesday posted a 27% increase in its full-year 2011/12 net profit in the chemicals segment, supported by higher earnings and transactions at its petrochemical-related subsidiary.
It recorded a net profit of yen (Y) 37.1bn ($464m) for the fiscal year ended 31 March, up from Y29.1bn a year earlier.
Operating profit in the chemicals segment was Y86.6bn, a 2.9% year on year increase from Y84.2bn.
Mitsubishi Corp’s full-year net profit, however, fell by 2.3% year on year to Y454bn from Y465bn, while operating profit decreased by 14% to Y271bn from Y316bn.
