China’s Shaoxing Sanyuan eyes PDH start-up in H2 2013

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shaoxing Sanyuan Petrochemical has started building a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, and is targeting to start up the facility in the second half of 2013, a company source said on Tuesday.

The PDH, which will be able to produce around 450,000 tonnes/year of propylene, could come on stream in August-October next year, the source added.

Earlier, the same source had said last August that work had started on a PDH unit of the same propylene capacity in Nantong, Jiangsu province, but clarified on Tuesday that the company was waiting for government approval and the project will be delayed.

Instead, work on a new PDH unit in Shaoxing had gone ahead eventually, he added.

Shaoxing Sanyuan runs two polypropylene (PP) plants at Shaoxing, with a combined nameplate capacity of around 500,000 tonnes/year.
