SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Iran’s Mehr Petrochemical Co (MHPC) plans to shut its high density polyethylene (HPDE) facility at Asaluyeh later this week or early next week for 7-10 days of turnaround, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The 300,000 tonne/year HDPE facility is scheduled to restart on 21 May, the source said.

“The plant is currently producing 7000F HDPE film grade at full operating rates and will resume production of this grade after the planned shutdown,” he said.

MHPC is a joint venture between Thailand’s PTT Chemical (PTTCH) – now known as PTT Global Chemical – and Siam Cement, Iran’s National Petrochemical Co (NPC) and Japan’s ITOCHU.
