SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Keiyo Monomer’s 200,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) facility at Chiba has been shut since late last week, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The source referred to a “plant trouble” that caused the shutdown but did not elaborate.

The producer plans to restart the plant within this week, the source said.

Keiyo Monomer, when contacted, declined to comment on the issue.

The company is a subsidiary of Asahi Glass Co and obtains its supply of feedstock ethylene dichloride (EDC) from its parent company.
