SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Brenntag’s net profit in the first quarter grew 18.6% year on year to €79.1m ($103m), backed by a 12.1% increase in sales, the German chemical distributor said on Wednesday.
Sales for the first three months of the year stood at €2.38bn from €2.13bn in the previous corresponding period, the company said in a statement.
Its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were up 8.7% year on year to €171.6m in the March quarter of 2012.

Its first-quarter 2012 sales in Asia Pacific surged 68.3% year on year to €144.1m, with operating EBITDA rising 8.2% to €10.6m.
