SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shanxi Coking said on Wednesday it has postponed the restart of its 200,000 tonne/year methanol unit at Linfen in Shanxi province to August from the beginning of May.

The company shut the plant on 18 April because of a shortage of feedstock coke oven gas, according to the source.

“We are planning to restart the plant in August as the feedstock is still in shortage,” the source said.

The company has no methanol inventory for sale currently, the source added.

The shutdown will not have an impact on north China market as producers in the region are still producing methanol, a market player said.
