US Q1 VAM production rises 11% year on year - AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) production rose to 808m lb (367,000 tonnes) in the first quarter of 2012, up by 11% from the same period in 2011, according to data received on Wednesday by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM).

The year-on-year increase reflected solid improvement in the US paints and coatings market in the first three months of this year compared with the same period in 2011.

First-quarter production also rose by 24% from the last quarter of 2011, according to the data.

The AFPM data was based on input from four companies – Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
