HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in March fell by 21% on declining shipments to Mexico and Belgium, according to data released on Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totaled 73,875 tonnes in March, compared with 92,997 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Combined March shipments to Mexico and Belgium - the two largest destinations - totalled totalled 46,476 tonnes, down by almost 29% compared with 65,272 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
