Malaysia's Optimal plans butac, NBA plants restart in early June

MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s Optimal Chemicals (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd plans to restart its butyl acetate (butac) and n-butanol (NBA)/iso-butanol (IBA) plants at Kerteh, Terengganu, by early June, a company official said on Friday.

“The plants were shut on 3 May, and will undergo overhaul for about four weeks,” the official added.

Optimal’s butac plant has a nameplate capacity of 50,000 tonnes/year while its NBA/IBA plant has a nameplate capacity of 140,000 tonnes/year.

Other butac producers in Asia include Korea Alcohol in South Korea, Jiangmen Handsome Chemical Development in China and Celanese in Singapore.
