The investment at the site now has now increased to $42m. The initial capacity of the site will be an updated 36,000 tonnes/year, from 30,000 tonnes/year previously announced, and is expected to start up in May 2013, according to the source.
Capacity may be expanded to 70,000 tonnes/year around 2015. The investment also includes a 15,000 tonne/year formaldehyde plant, the source said.
Both of the plants will produce phenolic resins in lump, pastille, liquid, and powder forms to serve the rubber, abrasive, friction, impregnation, and refractory markets.
