HOUSTON (ICIS)--US retailers are more concerned with the cost of fuel than unemployment, according to a study made available on Monday.
US-based consultancy BDO USA reported that 99% of retailers surveyed for the study considered general economic conditions as the top risk for their business.
Of those 99%, 71% indicated fuel prices were the top threat to economic stability, up from 58% last year, while 68% of retailers looked at unemployment as the top threat.
This was the first time since 2009 that concerns over fuel prices outweighed unemployment concerns, according to BDO.
