SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Hongxin Chemical shut down its 20,000 tone/year phthalic anhydride (PA) plant in Jiangsu province on May 14 for regular maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company shuts down the plant every six years for maintenance to comply with safety requirements of the government, the source said.

The exact date of the restart was not immediately known.

The shutdown will decrease PA supply in east China but its exact impact on the market in the near term was not known, a market player in east China said.
