SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Huayu Rubber, a major butadiene rubber (BR) manufacturer in Shandong province, has shut its 80,000 tonne/year plant at Heze in Shandong province on 14 May because of an equipment fault, a company source said on Tuesday.

The producer’s other 80,000 tonne/year BR plant, at the same site, remains off line since 7 January because of high feedstock costs, the source added.

The company has no plan to restart the two BR plants soon and will wait for market conditions to improve, the source said.

BR supply in Shandong province will be cut because of the turnaround at the two plants, a market player said.
