HOUSTON (ICIS)--LSB Industries’ nitric acid plant in Arkansas seized production indefinitely on Tuesday after an explosion rocked the facility, the company said.

LSB said an early morning blast at its El Dorado facility caused significant damage to its DSN concentrated nitric acid plant and surrounding equipment. The company said a reactor exploded.

“Fortunately, none of our employees or anyone in the El Dorado community was injured, and we believe there was no environmental release,” LSB said. “The company is determining the cause of the event and the extent of the damages.”

LSB said it did not have an estimate on how long it would take to repair the unit, nor did it know the cost of repairs.

It said its insurance policy has a $1m (€780,000) deductable for property damage and its business interruption insurance covers certain lost profits and extra expenses.
