SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Yantai Wanhua is planning to double its methylene di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) capacity at Ningbo in Zhejiang province to 1.2m tonnes/year by 2013, a company source said on Wednesday.

Yantai Wanhua has run two MDI lines that each has a 300,000 tonne/year capacity, the source said.

The lines are due to be shut for 40 days of technical upgrade from 1 June.

“We’ll conduct a technical update during the turnaround, its MDI capacity will be higher after the turnaround,” the source said without providing details on the increase in capacity.

Further technical updates will be conducted until the targeted 1.2m tonne/year capacity is reached, the source said.
