HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene inventories rose by 1.2% in the second week of May, while operating rates at US refineries rose for the fifth week in a row, data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed on Wednesday.
Propylene inventories were at 3.671m bbl in the week that ended on 11 May, up from 3.626m bbl a week earlier.
US refinery operating rates averaged 88.3% of capacity last week, up from 86.4% in the previous week, EIA data showed.
Refinery-grade propylene (RGP) was offered at 48 cents/lb ($1,058/tonne, €836/tonne) on Wednesday with no bids. RGP was last heard traded at 48.50 cents/lb on Friday.
