KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)--Mitsubishi Chemical is running its 800,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) No 2 unit in Haldia, India, at around 70-90% of capacity, a company source said on Thursday.

The company also has a 420,000 tonne/year No 1 PTA plant in Haldia that is currently running at full capacity, the source said at the sidelines of the 34th annual Asia Petrochemicals Industry Conference (APIC) being held in Kuala Lumpur on 17-18 May.
“If we can maintain operating rates at the No 2 facility, we will need to buy up to 15,000 tonnes of feedstock paraxylene (PX) for July delivery,” the source said.
