APIC '12: Malaysia's PETRONAS plans EO/EG restart next week

KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)--
The maintenance at EO/EG plant at Kerteh in Terengganu, which began on 1 May was originally planned for two weeks.
However, it was prolonged by one more week, the source said at the sidelines of the 34th annual Asia Petrochemicals Industry Conference (APIC) being held in
New problems have been diagnosed during the maintenance, which caused the extended shutdown, he added.
EO is the intermediate in the production of EG and is also separated and purified from the facility to be used as the raw material for other derivatives, such as ethanolamines and ethoxylate.
The restart of its 75,000 tonne/year ethanolamines unit at the same site will be delayed by one week accordingly to the end of May, the source added.
