SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical, a major fertilizer producer, has restarted its 30,000 tonne/year melamine plant in Chongqing, a company source said on Friday.
The plant was shut down because of a technical issue on 14 March and was restarted on 17 May. The plant is running at low operating rates for now, the source said, without stating the exact run rates.
The company’s other 30,000 tonne/year melamine plant at the same site is still shut. The unit was taken off line on 12 January because of a shortage of feedstock natural gas during the winter.
Melamine is used in a variety of applications, including the production of moulding powder, flame retardants, ink and home appliances. It is also used to manufacture adhesive resins, which are used in the making of wood panels for the construction sector.
