US propylene output in April falls 15% year on year - consultant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene production in April totalled 780m lb (353,802 tonnes), a 15% drop from 915m lb produced in the same month in 2011, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Monday.

Propylene output in April was flat by volume with 780m lb in March, but rose by 3.3% if production is measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.

US crackers operated at 84.7% of capacity in April. The figure is up from 84.6% in March, but down from 88.8 % in April 2011, the report showed.
