US Honeywell ammonia, capro plants in Virginia resume operations

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Honeywell’s ammonia and caprolactam (capro) plants in Hopewell, Virginia, have resumes operations, a spokesman said on Monday.

The spokesman confirmed the company had a experienced an unplanned outage last week with its ammonia plant and it caused a problem with its capro plant.

The spokesman would not elaborate, but said the plants had returned to operation this week.

Capro is used to produce nylon 6.

US producers of capro include BASF, DSM Chemicals North America and Honeywell.

US producers of nylon 6 include BASF, Custom Resins, DSM Chemicals North America, Ems-Grivory and Honeywell.
