HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shell Chemical has begun the restart of its Deer Park phenol-acetone plant in Texas, sources said on Wednesday.

The company put its facility into turnaround at the end of April for routine maintenance. The company declined to confirm the restart.

The site has 600,000 tonnes/year of phenol capacity and 355,000 tonnes/year of acetone capacity, according to ICIS plants and projects.

Also, Shell reported emissions at the site during the start-up of its cumene plant in the phenol 3 unit because of a relief valve opening and releasing material, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
